लोगों से अक्सर सुनते आये हैं कि बेटा बुढ़ापे की लाठी होता है।इसलिये लोग अपने जीवन मे एक "बेटा" की कामना ज़रूर रखते हैं ताकि बुढ़ापे अच्छे से कट जाए।ये बात सच भी है क्योंकि बेटा ही घर में बहु लाता है।बहु के आ जाने के बाद एक बेटा अपनी लगभग सारी जिम्मेदारी अपनी पत्नी के कंधे में डाल देता है।और फिर बहु बन जाती है अपने बूढ़े सास-ससुर की बुढ़ापे की लाठी।जी हाँ मेरा तो यही मनाना है वो बहु ही होती है जिसके सहारे बूढ़े सास-ससुर अपनी जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं।एक बहु को अपने सास-ससुर की पूरी दिनचर्या मालूम होती।कौन कब और कैसी चाय पीते है, क्या खाना बनाना है, शाम में नाश्ता में क्या देना,रात को हर हालत में 9 बजे से पहले खाना बनाना है।अगर सास-ससुर बीमार पड़ जाए तो पूरे मन या बेमन से बहु ही देखभाल करती है।अगर एक दिन के लिये बहु बीमार पड़ जाए या फिर कही चले जाएं,बेचारे सास-ससुर को ऐसा लगता है जैसा उनकी लाठी ही किसी ने छीन ली हो।वे चाय नाश्ता से लेकर खाना के लिये छटपटा जाएंगे।कोई पूछेगा नही उन्हें,उनका अपना बेटा भी नही क्योंकि बेटा को फुर्सत नही है,और अगर बेटे को फुरसत मिल जाये भी तो वो कुछ नही कर पायेगा क्योंकि उसे ये मालूम ही नही है कि माँ-बाबूजी को सुबह से रात तक क्या क्या देना है।क्योंकि बेटा के चंद सवाल है और उसकी ज़िम्मेदारी खत्म जैसे माँ-बाबूजी को खाना खाएं,चाय पियें, नाश्ता किये, लेकिन कभी भी ये जानने की कोशिश नही करते कि वे क्या खाते हैं कैसी चाय पीते हैं।ये लगभग सारे घर की कहानी है।मैंने तो ऐसी बहुएं देखी है जिसने अपनी सास की बीमारी में तन मन से सेवा करती थी,बिल्कुल एक बच्चे की तरह,जैसे बच्चे सारे काम बिस्तर पर करते हैं ठीक उसी तरह उसकी सास भी करती थी और बेचारी बहु उसको साफ करती थी।और बेटा ये बचकर निकल जाता था कि मैं अपनी माँ को ऐसी हालत में नही देख सकता इसलिये उनके पास नही जाता था।ऐसे की कई बहु के उदाहरण हैं।मैंने अपनी माँ और चाची को दादा-दादी की ऐसे ही सेवा करते देखा है।ऐसे ही कई उदाहरण आपलोगो ने भी देखा होगा,आपलोग में से ही कई बहुयें ने अपनी सास-ससुर की ऐसी सेवा की होगी या कर रही होगी।कभी -कभी ऐसा होता है कि बेटा संसार छोड़ चला जाता है,तब बहु ही होती है जो उसके माँ-बाप की सेवा करती है, ज़रूरत पड़ने पर नौकरी करती है।लेकिन अगर बहु दुनिया से चले जाएं तो बेटा फिर एक बहु ले आता है, क्योंकि वो नही कर पाता अपने माँ-बाप की सेवा,उसे खुद उस बहु नाम की लाठी की ज़रूरत पड़ती है।इसलिये मेरा मानना है कि बहु ही होती ही बुढ़ापे की असली लाठी लेकिन अफसोस "बहु" की त्याग और सेवा उन्हें भी नही दिखती जिसके लिये सारा दिन वो दौड़-भाग करती रहती है।

बेटी नाराज हो गयी
पापा जाने लगे जब ऑफिस,

पापा बेचारे क्या करे ?

छाती में दर्द होने लगा

हो, माफ़ कर दो पापा.
पर अब क्या हो सकता था ?
ACtiva बाहर खड़ी थी
PApa की dead body भी वहीं थी
बेटी सिर्फ पछता सकती थी, अपनी ज़िद पर, पापा से
नाराज होकर.
काश, वो फ़ोन उठाती
तो papa आज जिन्दा होते
हर बच्चे चाहे वो बेटा हो या बेटी से request है कि
dad की salary देखिये, घर की income देखिये, घर की ज़रूरतों को देखिये।
