Your Anger Ruining Your Relationships

Your Anger Ruining Your Relationships

Is Your Anger Ruining Your Relationships?

Anger can cause lasting scars in the people you love most and get in the way of Friendships and work Relationships.

Explosive anger makes it hard for others to trust you, speak honestly, or feel comfortable—and is especially damaging to children

When Anger becomes Emotional Abuse:

How to Control Anger and Frustration in a Relationship

The way couples deal with Anger can often make or break a Relationship. Don't settle for matchsticks and slamming doors. Here, a therapist offers tips to help you effectively communicate Anger in your Relationship.

Avoid the impulse to focus on self-management Avoid the Triangle Look Back Issues

Anger is a natural and normal human Emotion that makes its presence felt in any Relationship, even if it is not addressed to the person to whom it is being expressed. Unfortunately, Anger often rears its head in our interactions with the people we love most, including our romantic partners. But passion in a Relationship should not mean that feelings like Anger are expressed in an uncontrollable way. Managing Anger and managing your reaction to an Angry partner is a useful skill that can foster intimacy and maturity in any romantic Relationship.

Avoid the impulse of cut off

When a person is fighting with their significant other, sometimes they may feel the urge to slam a door and give them the silent treatment. Keeping quiet may calm you temporarily, but it is likely to increase your partner's Anxiety or Anger. This doesn't mean that you have to sit in the heat of the moment and solve a problem. Instead of rushing out or away from the driveway, consider telling your partner that you need some time to calm down so that you can organize your thinking. Tell them it's important for you to make up the difference and consider what an appropriate time is for you to think about and get back to them.

If your partner tends to give you the silent treatment when you forget your anniversary or leave dinner with your parents, you've probably experienced some Anxiety about what's going to happen. You can't ask them to talk to you, but you can share that you're willing to share your thinking and work together when they're ready. Trying to force or threaten them for a quick reconciliation is likely to backfire and cut them off even more.

Focus on Managing Yourself (and not your partner)

When someone we love is Angry with us, often we feel compelled to please and calm them down as quickly as possible. But we ultimately can't control someone's thoughts, behaviors, or feelings—we're only tasked with managing our own. Staying calm is much more effective than trying to calm someone else, and people who can focus on managing their Anxiety and reactions give the other person space to do the same. Hence, "Please calm down!" Instead of saying no, try taking a few deep breaths and slowing your heart rate.

Is Your Anger Ruining Your Relationships?

Anger is not only harmful to others but also to oneself.

When we are Angry, both our actions and our words become harsh.

The more we let this bitterness out, the more we injure others and injure our Relationship.

Most of the time, people get Angry because:

Things didn't turn out the way they wanted

is there a difference of opinion or

Others did not live up to their expectations.

When we are Angry:

We lose the sense of thinking logically and rationally.

We become careless and insensitive.

We try to use words that hurt and hurt others.

Your Relationship may or may not last but the wound lasts for a very long time.

If you are Angry:

️Stay away from that person or situation.

Practice calming your mind.

Learn to accept situations and people.
