शोभा नाम की औरत जिसकी बहन वृंदावन में रहती थी।

एक दिन वह उसको मिलने के लिए वृंदावन गई ।

शोभा जो कि काफी पैसे वाली औरत थी लेकिन उसकी बहन कीर्ति जो कि वृंदावन में रहती थी ज्यादा पैसे वाली नहीं थी लेकिन दिल की वह बहुत अच्छी थी
या यह कह सकते हैं कि दिल कि वह बहुत अमीर थी ।

उसका पति मिट्टी के घड़े बनाने का काम करता था।

शोभा काफी सालों बाद अपनी बहन को मिलकर बहुत खुश हुई।

लेकिन उसमें थोड़ा सा अपने पैसे को लेकर घमंड भी था वो कीर्ति के घर हर छोटी बात पर उसकी चीजों के में से नुक्स निकालती रहती थी लेकिन कीर्ति जो थी उसको कुछ ना कह कर बस यही कह देती जो बिहारी जी की इच्छा।

लेकिन शोभा हर बात में उस को नीचा दिखाने की कोशिश करती ।

कीर्ति ने अपनी तरफ से अपनी बहन की आवभगत में कोई कमी ना छोड़ी उसने अपनी बहन का पूरा ख्याल रखा उसने उसको वृंदावन के सारे मंदिर के दर्शन करवाए और उनकी महिमा के बारे में बताया शोभा यह दर्शन करके खुश तो हुई और उसने महिमा भी सुनी लेकिन उसका इन चीजों में इतना ध्यान नहीं था बस दर्शन करके वापस आ गई ।

उसको वृंदावन में रहते हुए काफी दिन हों गए। एक दिन वह अपनी बहन से बोली कि कीर्ति अब बहुत दिन हो गए तेरे घर को रहते हुए अब मुझे अपने घर को जाना चाहिए तो कीर्ति थोड़ी सी उदास हो गई और बोली बहन कुछ दिन और रुक जाओ।

लेकिन शोभा बोली नहीं काफी दिन हो गए मुझे आए हुए घर में मेरा पति और बच्चे अकेले हैं उनको सास के सहारे छोड़ कर आई हूं अब मैं फिर कभी आऊंगी।

जब शोभा वापिस जाने लगी की कीर्ति जो कि शोभा की बड़ी बहन थी तो उसने अपनी छोटी बहन को उपहार स्वरूप मिट्टी का घड़ा दिया ।

घड़े को देखकर शोभा हैरान सी हो गई और मन में सोचने लगी क्या कोई उपहार में भी घड़ा देता है लेकिन कीर्ति के बार-बार आग्रह करने पर उसने अन मने से घड़ा ले लिया ।जब शोभा जाने लगी तो कीर्ति की आंखों में आंसू थे लेकिन शोभा उससे नजरें चुराती हुई जल्दी-जल्दी वहां से चली गई।

सारे रास्ते शोभा यही सोचती रही कि मैं घर जाकर अपनी सास और पति को क्या बताऊंगी कि मेरी बड़ी बहन ने मुझे घड़ा उपहार के रूप में दिया है तो उसको इस बात से बहुत लज्जा आ रही थी ।तो उसने सोचा कि मैं घर में जाकर झूठ बोल दूंगी कि घड़ा मै खरीद कर लाई हूं मुझे तो मेरी बहन ने काफी कुछ दिया है।

इसी तरह सोचती सोचती मैं घर पहुंची और उसने घर जाकर घड़ा अपनी रसोई के ऊपर रख दिया। उसको मन में बहुत ही गुस्सा आ रहा था कि मेरी बहन क्या इस लायक भी नहीं थी छोटी बहन को कुछ पैसे उपहार में दे सके।

एक घड़ा सा पकड़ा दिया है ।

अब उसको अपने घर आए काफी दिन हो गए ।गर्मियों के दिन थे तभी उसके गांव में पानी की बहुत दिक्कत आने लगी कुएँ में नदियों में पानी सूख गया उसके गांव के लोग दूर-दूर से पानी भर कर लाते थे पैसे होने के बावजूद भी शोभा को पानी के लिए बहुत दिक्कत हो रही थी। 1 दिन शोभा बहुत दूर जाकर उनसे पानी भर रही थी वहां पर और भी औरतें पानी भरने के लिए आई हुई थी तो जल्दी पानी भरने की होड़ में धक्का-मुक्की में शोभा का घड़ा टूट गया। शोभा दूसरी औरतों पर चिल्लाने लगी यह आपने क्या किया बड़ी मुश्किल से तो मैंने पानी भरा था आप लोगों ने धक्का-मुक्की करके मेरा घडा तोड़ दिया है ।अब वह उदास मन से घर को आई अब उसके पास कोई और दूसरा बर्तन भी नहीं था पानी भरने के लिए तभी अचानक उसको अपनी बहन के दिए हुए घडे की याद आई तो उसने रसोई के ऊपर से घड़ा उतारा और फिर चल पड़ी बड़ी दूर पानी भरने के लिए जब कुएं पर पहुंची तो अभी भीड़ कम हो चुकी थी तो वह घड़े में पानी भरकर घर लाई।तभी उसका पति खेतों से वापस आया गर्मी अधिक होने के कारण वह गर्मी से बेहाल हो रहा था और आकर कहता शोभा क्या घर में पानी है ।क्या एक गिलास पानी मिलेगा तो शोभा ने कहा हां मैं अभी भरकर लाई हूं ।तभी उसने उस घड़े में से एक गिलास पानी भरकर अपने को पति को दिया गले में से पानी उतरते ही उसका पति एकदम से उठ खड़ा हुआ और बोला यह पानी तुम कहां से लाई हो तो शोभा एकदम से डर गई कि शायद मुझसे कोई भूल हो गई है तो उसने कहा ,क्यों क्या हुआ ?तो उसने कहा यह पानी नहीं यह तो अमृत लग रहा है। इतना मीठा पानी तो आज तक मैंने नहीं पिया ।यह तो कुएं का पानी लग ही नहीं रहा यह तो लग रहा है किसी मंदिर का अमृत है। तो शोभा बोली मैं तो कुएँ से ही भरकर लाई हूं ।यह देखो घड़ा भरा हुआ उसके पति ने कहा यह घडा तुम कहां से लाई थी उसने कहा जब मैं वृंदावन से वापस आ रही थी तो मेरी बहन ने मुझे दिया था यह सुनकर उसका पति चुप हो गया ।अब शोभा का पति बोला कि मैं थोड़ी देर के लिए बाहर जा रहा हूं तब तक तुम भोजन तैयार करो ।तो शोभा ने उसे घड़े के जल से दाल चावल बनाएं घड़े के पानी से दाल चावल बनाने से उसकी खुशबू पूरे गांव में फैल गई गाव के सब लोग सोचने लगे कि आज गांव में कहां उत्सव है जो इतनी अच्छी खाने की खुशबू आ रही है सब लोग एक एक करके खुशबू को सुघंते हुए शोभा के घर तक आ पहुंचे साथ में उसका पति भी था तो उसने आकर पूछा कि आज तुमने खाने में क्या बनाया है तो उसने कहा कि मैंने तो दाल और चावल बनाए हैं तो सब लोग हैरान हो गए की दाल चावल की इतनी अच्छी खुशबू ।सब लोग शोभा का मुंह देखने लगे कि आज तो हम भी तेरे घर से दाल चावल खा कर जाएंगे । उसने किसी को मना नहीं किया और थोड़ी थोड़ी दाल चावल सब को दिए। दाल चावल खाकर सब लोग उसको कहने लगे यह दाल चावल नहीं ऐसे लग रहा है कि हम लोग अमृत चख रहे हैं ।तो शोभा के पति ने कहा कि तुमने आज दाल चावल कैसे बनाएं तो उसने कहा कि मैंने तो यह घड़े के जल से ही दाल चावल बनाए हैं। शोभा का पति बोला तेरी बहन ने तो बहुत अच्छा उपहार दिया है अगले दिन जब शोभा घड़ा भरनेें के लिए जाने जाने लगी तो उसने देखा घड़ा तो पहले से ही भरा हुआ है उसका जल वैसे का वैसा है जितना वो कल लाई थी उसने उसमें से खाना भी बनाया था जल भी पिया था लेकिन घड़ा फिर भरा का भरा था। शोभा एकदम से हैरान हो गई यह कैसे हो गया तभी अचानक से उसी दिन उसकी बहन कीर्ति थी उसको मिलने के लिए उसके घर आई तो शोभा अपनी बहन को देख कर बहुत खुश हुई ।उसको गले मिली और उस को पानी पिलाया तो उसने अपनी बहन को कहा कि थी यह जो तूने मुझे घड़ा दिया था यह तो बहुत ही चमत्कारी घड़ा है मैंने तो तुच्छ समझ कर रसोई के ऊपर रख दिया था लेकिन कल से जब से यह मैं इसमें जल भरा हुआ है तब से जल से भरा हुआ है इसका जल इतना मीठा है और इसके जल से मैंने दाल और चावल बनाए जो कि अमृत के समान बने थे।

तो उसकी बहन बोली, अरी !ओ मेरी भोली बहन क्या तू नहीं जानती कि यह घड़ा ब्रज की रज यानी वृंदावन की माटी से बना है जिस पर साक्षात किशोरी जू और ठाकुर जी नंगे पांव चलते हैं उसी रज से यह घड़ा बना है यह घड़ा नहीं साक्षात किशोरी जी और ठाकुर जी के चरण तुम्हारे घर पड़े हैं। किशोरी जी और ठाकुर जी का ही स्वरूप तुम्हारे घर आया है ।

यह सुनकर उसकी बहन अपने आप को कोसती हुई और शर्मिंदा होती हुई अपनी बहन के कदमों में गिर पड़ी और बोली मुझे क्षमा कर दो जो मैं वृंदावन की रज ( माटी) की महिमा को न जान सकी।

जिसकी माटी में इतनी शक्ति है तो उस बांके बिहारी और लाडली जू मे कितनी शक्ति होगी ।

मैं अज्ञानी मूर्ख ना जान सकी।

शोभा बोली बहन तुम्हारे ही कारण मैं धन्य हो उठी हूं। तुम्हारा लाख-लाख धन्यवाद ।

यह कहकर दोनों बहने आंखों में आंसू भर कर एक दूसरे के गले लग कर रोने लगी ।
