Recently he compared Kerala with Somalia in one of his election campaign speeches. There is an interview before he came into power where he was blabbering about how controlling inflation and maintaining demand-supply balance is a cakewalk and not a big deal for him. Also, during one of his speeches he falsely accused Jawaharlal Nehru for not attending Sardar Patel's funereal.I also remember what he said after he won election in Gujrat and became CM. He said,”Main jeet gaya isliye Gujarat me fatake foot rahe hai. Agar main haar jaata to Pakistan me phut jate.”(Its because I won, Gujarat is celebrating, If I would have lost, then people in Pakistan would be celebrating). But I still ignore this statement because he was not a national leader then.
Self Obsession . Oh he just loves himself a lot. He wears the suit on which his name is written. He takes selfies everywhere. He plays with children, plays musical instruments , people chanting ‘ Modi…Modi’ makes him happy. There is nothing wrong in it but sometimes, I think its too much of show off. He always brags about how he has emerged as the savior of this country which was in darkness before 2014.(which is not true).
“I am the first and only one” attitude.
Take the example of his first speech at Madison Square Garden. He said almost all Indian PMs visited US before but he was the only one who got recognized. Also, his latest speech at American Congress, many believed that he was the only PM who got standing ovation which was absolutely,not true. He, with the help of his efficient and remarkable marketing team manages to convince the majority that ‘only he’ has done few remarkable things and achieved milestones. For example, people adore him because he works for 18 hours everyday. But is he the first and only PM to do this ? Obviously not. Manmohan Singh used to work for 18 hours every day and he took only 1 vacation during his tenure. He was one of the simplest PMs India ever had. Also, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri & Atal ji used to work for 17–18 hours straight. His team makes people believe that whatever good things happening in country are only due to him. Take Mangalyan, Chabahar Port (Yes the discussions started during UPA, MM Singh once visited Iran), Anubhooti Coach, Jammu-Katra railway. These things started during UPA government but still most of the people believe that he is the man behind all these things. Well, I am not saying that he is not working. He is doing well. But portraying himself as the “only one” messiah is the symbol of narcissism and thats not good for a Prime leader of the country. He is quite good at promoting and marketing his work in which other PMs failed. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t work. May be they didn’t feel like hiring one of the best PR agency like APCO and using social media effectively to promote themselves.
Taking false credits. Recently during Ramadan, Qatar released few Indian Prisoners from the jail. Our Foreign Minister without wasting time tweeted that this happened only because of Narendra Modi Ji. This is not true as this is a regular procedure followed in Gulf countries during Ramadan. It has nothing to do with Modi.
Modi showed a ray of hope to the Indians. People wanted change. Every democracy demands change. So people gave him a chance. He is working a lot in order to achieve this. But that doesn’t mean he is perfect. That doesn’t mean his fans should give him credit to each and every good happening in the country, that doesn’t mean he should be worshiped and glorified by people as god. He has few bad qualities too.(Everyone has).
In India, each and every public figure from Gandhi to Manmohan has been criticized. Harshly, severely. Many have suffered from a vulgar criticism too(which is unfortunate). I remember how people used offensive language and made some really vulgar cartoons of Manmohan and Soniya Gandhi on social media. Many enjoyed it too. No one even had a single thought that somebody was insulting our PM. Nobody came forward. Modi should not be made an exception when it comes to criticism(that doesn’t mean people making vulgar comments on him is justified). In fact he is the lucky one.
He has a large number of Blind Fans who always take his side and defend him.
He is running a government. Every government gets criticized. NDA too will have to go through this. Even they did the same when they were in opposition(opposed FDI in retail and now they themselves are bringing it). Watch the pre-2014 Loksabha sessions and you will know it. Modi’s die hard fans should learn to digest the criticism and should stop labeling every critic as “Sickular,AAPtard, Khangressi pseudo secular, paid or bribed by the opposition, leftist/communist, anti-national”
